How to remove the sticky residue from a plastic doily from a table?

MyGrandmother used those plastic doilies on tables. I've inherited a table that has sticky residue on it. The table doesnt need to be refurnished I just need to get rid of the residue. Any suggestions?

WD-40 will do the job as well. I hear that it has other uses too so if you don't have a can in your house it's worth buying.

Did you find something that worked? Goo gone and Murphy’s oils soap didn’t work and the gooey residue from plastic doilies is still on the wooden chest of drawers.
