Finally we were able to get the old single pane energy sucking window replaced...In goes the large Low E, argan gas filled window..But 1st we had to dismantle the exterior wall and re construct the framing and put in a larger support header.
Once that was complete,in went the window and putting back the exterior walls with as little damage as possible since this was just painted in June.
Interior repair was going to be more of a challenge; there is one of 2 ways to do the inside finish...
#1 is repair sheet rock, additional plaster, buy a sander and sand entire wall and paint.
#2 is repair plaster and place 3 piece of paneling up..we opted for the easiest and cheapest..paneling...We found a nice white washed and rustic style.
dining room cleaned up and everything put back
another view
window decor rustic red window garland
sheer drapes to allow light to transfer in but keep people from peeping in out
putting the 1/4 round and other trim on...
We love the clean look so much we are extending this onto the kitchen walls too...as it also has the horrible plaster effects done by someone who did not know what they were doing prior to us moving in....
all 3 panels up
2nd panel up
1st panel up
securing the sheet rock
you can see where the old window frame was...now it was time to repair the wall....Previous owners had done a horrible job with the plaster,as it they used their feet to apply,it did not matter what paint I used,it did not look right...so putting the paneling up would rid us of that horrible texture.
window in and exterior wall pieces put back
reframing the wall
old window out and taking the siding off carefully to prevent to much damage

You saved yourself some money, and got to do this on your own!
