Spiders HATE mint ... I would get some Essential Oil of Mint and mix 10 drops with every ounce of water (shaking it very well) in a spray bottle. Make sure it is an essential oil and not what is used in making candy --- after shaking the bottle well, spray the corners of the rooms indoors, as well as the corners of windows and doorways to keep them from trying to move indoors as it gets cooler, then move outdoors and spray the corners of windows, doors, porches to discourage them from using those areas for egg sacs (those small white cotton-ball-looking things you will see in or near the mother's web). You should also consider growing a small indoor container of mint in each room, and plant it in pots around your home to keep them away (and the reason I am empasizing it be grown in pots even outside -- you CAN bury the pots if you'd like to about an inch or two below the lip of the pot -- is because mint is such an invasive plant it will make its way into your lawn and you may not want that to happen). Not only do spiders hate mint, so do ants and mosquitoes.

Get Victors or EcoSense Natural Ant and Roach spray. Its most mint and repels ants and spider, but I don't have roaches. Spray around your doorway and rub it on the wood casing with a paper towel.

I would call pest control for the area around the house. Don't know if the spiders are poison. You could also spray with syphotrol spray that is used for fleas, but will kill other noxious bugs. When it comes to spiders, the only good spider is a dead spider. Oh, you can get syphotrol spray from your vet.

Outdoor Spiders hate eucalyptus sprigs.

Make a spider repellent, by using one of these oils: lavender, citronella, cinnamon, citrus, peppermint or tea tree oil.

It`s a garden spider , I have never seen one in my house, they like flower an veggie gardens. where they can trap insect in there web.

Go straight for the ant, mosquito and spider spray for your front and back doors, moving on to the windows and corners. When you use a broom or rag or anything you will use again, wear gloves (for you) and strip the webs into a trashbag AFTER YOU HAVE SPRAYED the broom, trashbag with more poison. spiders can hide in your cleaning supplies and come back in to build their webs and lay their eggs before you have even taken the trash to the curb. All of this spraying should last about a month, but if you regularly spray even if you do not see any spiders, this should last longer and longer. And if you spray any paper or plastic or plastic bags that come into or near your house, you stand a better chance of keeping the spiders away. Best wishes 😇

i won't kill them either; they are so helpful in eating mosquitoes! when i left for work the other day, almost ran smack into one on the front porch. i grabbed the broom and moved the big spider to a nearby bush. was glad to see upon arrival back home that evening, it had made a new web elsewhere and way up high!

Just to reassure you, this is a Garden Spider. While they look horrid and frightening mainly because they are so big, they are not dangerous and are generally quite docile. You will see them build webs that have a zigzag pattern in the center. Don't worry about them in the garden but, yeah, take care not to run into their webs. That being said, you definitely don't want to have to worry about walking into one of their webs by a doorway so clean the area well, use one of the repellants - you can try several different ones - and use some sort of regular insect repellant in the area as well. They build their nests where there are insects so remove their food source - mosquitoes, flies, etc - and they will have no reason to build a web there. Anyway, good luck and remember they are some of the good guys in the spider kingdom and you don't need to worry about your safety around them. They also won't come inside; they live outside only.

Thats an American House Spider. Completely harmless! They hang out by doors to catch flying bugs. They won't come into your house because they are not hunters & will starve. Theyll only br around another month or so. Enjoy them catching mosquitoes , flies, & other annoying bugs that come inside. Hope this helps!

Oh, please, whatever you do, don't kill or poison her. These garden spiders are absolutely fascinating and will not harm you or your family. They have chosen your home and the doorways because you have insects trying to get in. If you must move her, continue to use a gentle water spray, but NO POISONS or other insect sprays.

This article also reitifies that "The black and yellow garden spiders and other types of orbweavers are generally harmless but can be a nuisance when they build large webs in places inconvenient for humans. They are very beneficial to our environment and quite attractive, unless the mere sight of a spider triggers a case of arachnophobia!"

This is a writing spider aka St. Andrews Cross spider. It's basically a garden spider and it'll help keep unwanted pests out of your garden. They create a new web everyday, taking down the one from the day before. They won't bother you or bother coming inside. I would leave it be.

I agree with a lot here as far as it being a simple garden spider.They are mostly nocturnal,therefore they are building webs near your door because bugs are attracted to light at night,ie.porch light.They will not harm you.I agree that you can use your broom to relocate them,but don't kill them.That is one of the things happening to our bees,pesticides and chemicals and people.Take care!

Spiders despise peppermint. Use the natural liquid not the type for baking cooking. You can buy plants, but they can be invasive; so, keep them in pots and let them grow in spider prone areas around your home. If you are not interested in worrying with plants, l would use PEPPERINT liquid and spray or place a few drops in areas where spiders appear.

LOL --OHHHH NOOOO!!!! That's TOO funny! He shouldn't be there, but he is! MY goodness he must LOVE you! Imagine what he is going through with all that mint just so he can be with YOU! ROTFL --well, so much for OUTSIDE spiders and mint, but it's still working for me on the inside (as long as my mint holds out, I guess; which won't be much longer. My mass cane, my spider plants, my aloe plants, and all my cuttings for Rose of Sharon bushes are doing just fine but my mint plants have gotten a black leaf fungus on them (a spot here and there) and although I keep pinching off the spotted leaves, it keeps reappearing on other leaves, so I am going to have to throw them all out, most likely sooner than later. Maybe I'll just keep spraying mint water around LOL ... oh heavens your situation is funny, and I'm so sorry ... you've just gotten "a very kinky" spider who likes mint and is so grateful you've provided her with a home LOL. Oh, you are so lucky to have this nonaggressive, beautiful spider! It's a golden garden spider and it eats all kinds of undesirables. Haven't found mint to be much of a deterrent, but then I like having these predators in my garden
