If it's your backyard, train your dog to go in one area. This might take a week or so. Take the dog on a leash, out to the yard, where it can pee. If you do this, the dog automatically go to that spot. The dog will associate that spot as his or her own. Give the dog a treat after it goes in that spot. Praise your dog, and after he or she goes, take the leash off. When the dog is let out give it a treat when it returns. After it learns this just open the door and let the dog out without a leash. Good Luck!

I've personally never had this issue with my seven pound yorkie (which I assume is most likely due to her small size??). However, I had a conversation with my brother several years back in which I learned that he had been struggling with the same dead/brown grass spots issue for years with his dog, a larger size (80'ish lbs) lab/pit bull mix. So I just mentioned to him an ad that I had seen not long before that which was for a product that could be added to a dogs water to change the chemistry of it's urine and either reduce or eliminate the component that causes the damage to grass. He first freaked out that such a thing existed (and couldn't believe that HE wouldn't have come across/heard about it himself despite his many years of dealing with the issue! Lol!), and then he proceeded to have it ordered on his phone within a matter of two or three minutes and has been enjoying great results ever since he began using it. -which it's now been about five years since that conversation. :) And I do apologize because I don't know the name of the product, but I wanted to share about it anyway for those who might not know that it even exists, just as my brother didn't. I'd imagine that it has to be fairly easy to find now with a simple Google search. Plus, I also just want to mention that, since that time, I've seen that there are some treats available now as well-made to do the very same thing, and with some pretty positive reviews! So, anyway... I hope this is enough info that it can help someone else as it did my brother. Best wishes! :) Shannon
