Mary Krygiel on Feb 22, 2014I have learned with plants in general, some times you just have to wait. We are all impatient and used to instant answers but I have a yucca plant where the top started to wilt and it looked like it would rot if it continued so I cut the top which looked healthy and put it into a jar of water. It rooted and I will plant it but surprisingly the bottom part which had no leaves after I cut the top off is showing signs of growing another top. I kept watering it occasionally in the hope that this would happen. So my word to the wise is to wait. I figure plants want to live as much as we do so with a little patience they will. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Judy on Nov 11, 2014Barb Rosen is right, it's making a baby. From what I've read you need to wait until there are roots about 2 inches long coming out of the base of it, then you can cut the stem on both sides (not too close) & plant it. Different types of orchids need different types of potting medium so google yours to find out what to do with it.Helpful Reply
