Really awesome tip- thanks Stephen!
I wash my wooden utensils, bowls, and/or cutting boards by hand in hot soapy dishwater, then air or towel dry. If the wood starts to look as if it's becoming dry, I do the following: using a paper towel, I cover the items with a coat of vegetable oil. Wipe off any excess oil, then place them in a paper sack or wrap them in newspaper and place them in a plastic grocery bags until you need to use them.
