Lemons, cut in half
+ course sea salt
= a great metal cleaner
Dip a lemon half, cut side down, in a shallow bowl of sea salt.
Use the lemon like a scrubber sponge!
The acid in the juice releases ions from the salt to strip tarnish off many metals. The texture of the salt loosens things up. As you press into the lemon, more juice is released. Redip in salt as needed to keep things going.
Rinse when clean. Buff dry.
Once the lemon halves are used up, you can rub a microfiber cloth over the zest to pick up the lemon oil. It can give an extra shine as you buff
Lemons! I soaked some brass trivets in lemon juice for @ 15 minutes and then just had to rub a few spots. For my brass candle holder I used a lemon and salt as the above poster described.

Vinegar, Salt and Flour: These versatile home staples can be combined to make a paste to clean tarnished brass. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt into one-half cup of vinegar, and add flour until the mixture becomes a paste. Rub into the brass, leave for about 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water and buff dry.
