Luis on Feb 22, 2014Bees will pollinate the flowers in order for you to have beans, without flowers there will be no beans.Helpful Reply

Debbie B Cook on Feb 22, 2014If you saved them from last year's crop, it may be seeds from a cultivar that reverted back to one of the crosses it took to make the hybrid. Still pretty! ;)Helpful Reply

Carole on Feb 22, 2014If you have ever grown peas, you will know that they do the same, flowers first then comes the pea pods or in this case the beans. Enjoy the display and let nature take its course.Helpful Reply

Jeanetteann on Feb 23, 2014I feel so silly,It didn't occur to me that the beans are just the same as the ones I usually plant only red flowers instead of white. I saw the red and thought it was something different. :) the plant is lovely even without beans and so easy to grow too.Helpful Reply

Kris Broughton on Feb 23, 2014Your plants might have reverted to producing "scarlet runner beans". Wait until the flowers produce pods - and see what you get!Helpful Reply

Kris Broughton on Feb 23, 2014I just realized that your post said "runner beans" in the subject. Well - your beans are doing just that - they grow like they're "running" ( they will climb and prosper) and produce lots of red flowers because they are likely Scarlet Runner Beans.Helpful Reply

Jeanetteann on Feb 28, 2014They are pretty Mary. I planted them last year but the flowers were white and then green beans followed. I was thrown a bit when the red flowers appeared even though the packet of beans had a picture of green runner beans on the front.Helpful Reply
