I bought 2 Lilac bushes, end of the summer sale,at our local hardware store and needed to get them in the ground. I am working on my yard a little at a time and I'm trying to recycle and use what I have on hand.
where I live we have caliche, rock and dirt, extremely hard to work in. So I began by removing some soil, I add peat moss and till it in by hand.
Once my peat moss ,cow manure was mixed in and soil leveled,in went my lilac bush. I used layer upon layer of newspaper for my weed barrier. I've used newspapers and boxes as weed barriers (it works).
I added brown mulch for moisture and to help with the weeds.I planted both my lilac bushes on each corner in my front yard BUT I'm not done! I'll be adding ditch concrete(more on that later) for the borders. when finished I'll show you my end results. Have an awesome day and keep reusing and recycling anywhere you can😉
