Sharpies on plastic

I read an article about using sharpies on plates. I have these cute little cups that applesauce comes in. They are plastic and I want to color them and put them on string lights. With the plates they put them in the oven to set. Obviously I can't do that. So will they be ok without this step? I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks

Yes but the black will fade to brown. Apparently the Sharpie paint pens are really good. I have used other types on furniture, and they are great.
