Cover the area of weeds you want to kill with BLACK plastic and leave until spring. Everything under the plastic should be killed down to and including the roots. Till the soil and plant!
Regular tables salt will kill weeds but it also kills grass. Be careful.
Most weed killers are good to plant after just a short time. Read the back and it will tell you. I, myself pull the weeds. I also use Preen weed preventer. It will prevent the weed seeds from germinating. It will not affect tree seeds or any weeds that propagate by their roots. It will also not affect any seeds you plant in your veggie garden. I plant corn, green beans (pole and bush), carrots, cucumbers and squash by seed and have had no problem with germination. I put it down as soon as I get done weeding in the spring and reapply when it is necessary, and again in the fall to stop weeds once the garden is empty to keep them out until the ground freezes. Hope this helps.
smother them out with cardboard and newspaper
There is no such thing as easy. It takes dedication and commitment to become weed-free by hand pulling weeds. Or...you can lay tarps down, ctrl holes where you want to plant something..
After harvesting pull all the plants out and place newspaper on the entire section 2-3 sheets and place brick to keep them from blowing away did this last year and added depending on how big yours is more dirt on top becaus the paper just rots into the earth and the worms love it and the weeds hate it do to the ink and your weed free next year, WORKED FOR ME EVEN IN MY LANDSCAPED BEDS.
Here's simple. Pour boiling hot water on the weeds. Wait a day or two, then the'll die. Blast the ground where the dead weeds are, soak it good. Wait 24 hrs. Pull weeds, the'll come out easily, and best of all by the ROOTS. No more weeds. Good Luck!

Hi Karen, you can soak and pull larger weeds out by the roots, and for other ones, hope this helps, mix 1 cup of salt. 1 tablespoon of dish soap. 1 gallon of vinegar, pour into a spray bottle and spray weeds. Be careful not to spray plants that you love.
Rubbing alcohol can dry up weeds and kill them. Prepare the solution with one quart of water and two tablespoons of rubbing alcohol, and apply with a spray bottle. It's best to use this solution on a sunny day for better results
