What should ph be in your soil to be acidic enough to turn hydrangeas?

The PH has to be 5.50 for blue hydrangeas and 6.5 for pink. If you want purple or a mix of blue and pink the PH has to be both of these around the plant. (If I understood this article correctly.

Soil needs to be range of 5.2 to 5.5. You can acidify the soil by adding coffee grounds around your plants, or pine needles. But they might not turn blue if there isn't enough aluminium in your soil, so add a bit of Aluminum Sulfate to the soil.... 1 tbsp to gallon of water, add this only to plants that are 2 years old.
