I would say do whatever looks best with your house.
I would say a patio. However, should you decide on a deck, I strongly advise two things; use composite decking and make sure you still have privacy.
I've got both and I can tell you it all depends on what you do to both. For a deck you should use the composite decking. Do some research and find ratings before you buy. A patio is just as expensive as a deck if you have a lot of add-on's like; Fire pit, walls, and materials cement or bricks. Determine the size of both and then do your research from you computer. You will soon find out that depending on the layouts and add-0n the costs. Good luck!
