Today I have another addition to my DIY, diamond-design, deck furniture to share with you! As you may know, I built a DIY curved floating deck earlier this summer and since then, I have been DIYing myself some furniture to enable us to enjoy that deck. I previously built a planter and an outdoor sofa, both with a diamond-shape design incorporated into each piece. Now, I have a super cute DIY Outdoor Coffee Table to add to the collection!
Here are the abbreviated instructions for how i built my coffee table, for full plans and additional pictures, please see my website at the link at the bottom of this post. First, I cut the 2x4 boards for the coffee table legs.
Next, I cut the 2x4 boards to create the table frame.
Using wood glue and pocket hole screws, I assembled the frame of the coffee table and attached it to the legs.
I added in the center support board, and then cut the boards for the table top.
Attach the top boards to the frame with exterior wood screws.
Fill all holes with wood filler, and once dry, sand the table until smooth.
I wanted the shabby-chic, white washed look, so first I used a weatherized accelerator to give the wood a weathered look and then stained the diamond in the center a navy color.
I then taped off the diamond, and put a coat of white exterior paint on the table.
I then coated with exterior spar urethane and moved to its permanent location on my front deck, right in front of the matching couch.
Enjoyed the project?
Suggested materials:
