Should a disinfectant/herbicide be sprayed on the yard after flooding?

Due to flooding in the Houston area, I'm concerned about letting my dog out in the backyard where sewage has been.

Wow, good question. If the yard is going to have to be started again from scratch, I would use straight vinegar in a pump sprayer. Hopefully other Hometalkers will have better suggestions.
