I suggest that you Google, "how to kill yellow jackets that are in the ground." I just did this and found lots of information. Whatever you do, be very careful as there can be up to 1,000 of them in one hole. They are very aggressive an dangerous.
We had them in the thing that brings the electrical wires in the house a few years ago. At dusk when they were all in there for the night, a friend went up on the roof and sprayed into it, After doing this three or four times, they abandoned it. You do have to be prepared to run, have someone who is youngish, fast and not allergic do it for you.
Hello Edith, Several years ago we had the same problem, My husband waited until dark and then poured boiling water into the hole. Be very careful doing this. The boiling water melts their wings. Or, you could call a professional. Sometimes it's worth it.
Boiling water should do the trick!!
