How i can i kill the root of a tree thats grown under a drive way

    Chop it off. It may weaken the tree. If you want to kill the tree slowly, I wouldn't do that. If it is a tall tree and you weaken it there is a chance the tree will fall on a house, a car, or even a person. I don't think you want that to happen. The best thing would be to have it removed if you don't want it in your yard.

    Am I correct in assuming you want to kill the tree? When you damage a large root of a tree, you will most often kill the tree. You did not say of what material your drive is made, so if it is cement or asphalt, you should talk to a tree removal service. If you are able to see the root as it goes under the drive, you may be able to damage the root by cutting into it (with an axe, chainsaw, etc.). Again, be aware that once the root is damaged, the whole tree could be irreparably damaged, thus being dangerous to your yard, vehicles, home (another reason to speak to an arborist or tree removal service). Trees hold a lot of unseen surprised! Be safe.
