How much do you have in your budget? EJL.
Easy fixes on a budget are painting, change out the cabinet hardware, and some accessories
I needed to do something with mine and I started with painting the walls, then removing doors on my metal cabinets, put contact paper at the back of the open cabinets and returned the dishes, then I got a new faucet and a larger fridge. The entire fix cost less then $2k. The difference is amazing
Paint is by far the cheapest way to go. It's not quick, if you do it right, but it can really make the room look new. Change the handles and drawer pulls as well. Paint the insides of the cabinets a different color. Line the shelves using stick on vinyl floor tiles cut to size. (Makes cleaning the shelves soooo easy), and you're done. A few bright accessories and you have a new look!
I agree with paint being the easiest and biggest bang for the $. Check online or in magazines for a look or a theme that you like. Try and bring some of those elements into your kitchen. Updated pulls or knobs for the cabinet look great! When I redid my kitchen, I bought my pulls in groups of 10 I think. you can buy in bulk on Amazon and eBay, and save a ton of money. Also, hardware stores sell peel and stick decorative tile -- possible backsplash idea. Even if you use 1/3 or 1/4 the tile width, it gives a bit more color/contrast. Curtains...or not! Add a couple of dish towels, throw rug, cooking utensils can help add color on the cheap. Check out stores like Ross, Marshall's, Big Lots and Hobby Lobby for ideas. Also check out local thrift stores, garage sales, etc. Good luck and have fun!
