Have a pocket door put in ....it will open into the wall on a track to where u won't see it an close to where you can see it . It sorta looks like a regular door an casing when it's shut .

Make it look like a bookcase, by making up a frame (Up and across the door) Fix shelves inside. Pop your Books, Ornaments (Unbreakable) on the shelves, and maybe a cupboard at the bottom , and then the door disappears until you want to open it. You could alway back the new cabinet with Plastic mirrors on back of shelves too.............
Simple and least expensive would be an extra long rod to hang curtains on.
That's the idea...........
