Peppermint oil will work. Needs to be reapplied after rain. I spray the perimeter of my property and base of my house once a month with vinegar. It helps a bit.

My friend used to come over with her sprayer every spring and spray around my house with a vinegar mixture that relocated them to outer parts of the yard. It worked.
