Painting Vanity Counter tops in a mobile home

Julie Dunkin on Feb 24, 2014I love the chalkboard paint, I have a door with it on for years. But I have to say over time depending on what kind of chalk is used, its gets harder to clean. Maybe not a good idea on a counter top.Helpful Reply

Fhk302643 on Feb 25, 2014Since it is hard for paint to adhere to Formica, plastic, etc... you need to use a primer (I used BIN from Home Depot) which will allow the paint to adhere to the plastic.. If you decide to not use the chalkboard paint and use regular paint, give it about 3-4 coats of a shellac or lacquer to seal it. I did my kitchen counter tops and still looks good after 20+ years.Helpful Reply

Altini on Feb 26, 2014Rustoleum makes a countertop paint, use that before adding the chalkboard paint. The countertop paint comes in a lot of color choices. I bought mine at Lowes.Helpful Reply

Gail Daigh on Feb 11, 2015Some of the people have said that the Rustoleum countertop paint kit didn't hold up well. I, therefore, plan to use latex with several coats of sealer.Helpful Reply
