I don't think you can make slipcovers without sewing. I may be wrong.
I use a big painters drop cloth its fabric and a neutral color.
You can use a fabric glue instead of sewing and there are iron on tapes that you can use to hold your seams together. Straight line sewing is pretty easy watch some youtube on basic sewing.
Depending on the size of your couch, you can use double, queen, or king size sheets. Best of all, they are easily washed after a spill or dirty clothes.
I have used slipcovers from Sure Fit.
You could probably pin hemmed fabric into place or use sheets. Not sewing, it might be easiest to get fitted slipcovers that are already made. There are throws that you can buy that are washable and just need to be tucked. The trouble I foresee with anything that is heat glued/ironed or not hemmed, you will get threads pulling loose and seams that may not hold. Dropcloths and sheets are the easiest large pieces of fabric to work with since they are washable and already hemmed.
Sure Fit has washable slipcovers a lot of different materials and patterns. I have bought slipcovers for loveseats, chairs and recliners. They are affordable and are made of quality materials. Long lasting and easy to use.
