Right now is the time to gear up for the Holidays. Knick-Knacks don't seem to sell well like they used to. I believe it's because many are trying to "clear the clutter." Shoppers are going for things that are practical like Wreaths for doors, Baby Shoes and Crochet Sweaters and Hats, as examples. Good luck with whatever you choose to try!

What are your skills?
Amazon and some other businesses now list customer service positions that can be done from home. I've sold on both Etsy and Ebay, so if you have vintage items to sell, or crafts, that is one way to make money. Good luck!
Make homemade breads and jam by order for people. Cook meals that are healthy and from scratch. Have a pick up service for Dry Cleaning, groceries, etc. Walk Dogs or check in on elderly parents. Pick something you love to do and make a business out of it!

I didn't think of it until I read back over the other answers, but, my daughter worked as a dogsitter while in graduate school. She would walk them, feed them and play with them while the owners were at work or away. Her regular customers were very sad when she left the area. Virtual assistants are also making money these days.
Can you sew? With the price some retailers charge for window treatments, you could probably offer made-to-order Roman shades and drapes.
