try plain white toothpaste, oil, coconut oil, mayo, butter ,peanut butter ,in a circular motion with a micro fiber cloth
You probably need to sand if the marks are too deep. Then clean with a damp cloth and paint. Seal with a clear coat of poly.
For the best result, I would use Citristrip to remove the old finish, lightly sand, restain and then seal. Then use a tablecloth, placemats, coasters and trivits so you do not end up with a repeat performance.
Your best bet is to sand the tabletop, then re-stain it for an even look. If you have several stains, trying to repair each of them separately will probably leave a patchy look on the surface of the table.
Try making a paste of 1 tablespoon baking soda and 1 teaspoon water. Gently rub the spot in a circular motion until it disappears. Remember not to use too much water.
