Try WD-40 aerosole spray
I would try Vinegar first. Give it a good wash down with a 75/25 mix of vinegar and water. Wipe to dry and then air dry completely before putting drawers back in.
If the mildew comes back, I would invest in tea tree oil and mix it with mineral oil as a carrier. I would use about 12 drops to a cup of mineral oil. Rub down the entire piece with the mixture and the tea tree oil should eradicate all mildew spores.
I hope that helps

Your piece sounds lovely wish you had posted a pic! It would depend on whether the finish was sealed or not. if it is not sealed ( meaning a top coat if you will over the stain/varnish) be careful as the wood will be especially pourous to anything you clean it with. If it is sealed you have more options. If you know which it is it will help. Thanks!

A solution of water and bleach will quickly kill mildew, but you should test it in a small unexposed area to make sure it does not affect the color of the wood.
