Can I paint my popcorn ceiling?

Remove the screen, sand any areas that are shiny or slick. Be sure the screen is cleaned well. Use a spray paint that is made for metal....one of the hammered finishes would look nice. If the screen is exposed to heat regularly, check to make sure the paint is compatible with that. Will probably take several thin coats for best coverage.
I would rough it up with 000 steel wool, then I would paint with Rustoleum Hammered metal paint.... comes in 5 colors at local hardware stores, home stores or Amazon.
