Hi Jana, Try putting a bigger bead at the end of your string. Tie a knot around it. This is usually called a "stop" bead. When I purchase seed beads I cut the string and let them fall in old medicine bottles (with the labels removed). And that is where I store them.
I would go through the last bead twice and tie off by going through the extra thread and tying off at that point.

If you want to tie them off after you have the bracelet or what ever..... tie the knot at the end pushing up to the end then thread a needle back through a couple of beads antie off again this time snip it in close to the bead. I often touch it with a toothpick and tiniest bit of glue on end bit of thread.
