Test spot a small area with white vinegar and water 50/50
I used Goo-gone. It's an oil based cleaner that removes any kind of stickiness. It really works.
Murphy's Oil Soap is the best! Give it a try.
Try cleaning it with coconut oil. It should remove the sticky residuals and will condition the wood. When removing the stickiness, rub in circles, then when it's gone, rub in the direction of the grain to wipe off the excess.
I used a mixture of half ammonia and half water to clean a piece of wood furniture I bought. It was sticky from built-up gunk over the years. Came off nice and gave the piece a fresh clean new look.
