Contact Windows and they should be able to help you. Been there done that. In the past you could only use the key on one computer, if you had to reformat that computer it wouldn't let you use it again, I called them and they made sure I could use the program again. I know that on laptops they used to have a tag on the bottom of the computer with the key, or at least the serial number of the windows program and they will need that.
Naomie, do you have a family member or friend who has windows 10 ? they should have the back-up USB Drive., if no-one has you can try to see in you can download from Microsoft to your computer. you can also try to to into your computer directory for C:\ find Microsoft and the number may be on your computer. hope this helps.

What is it? What does it open or start?
I'm assuming that you're referring to the code that unlocks the software. If so, you need to buy the software. Refer to Naomie's answer above.
