What is the best way to remove wallpaper?
I don’t want to leave tracks in the drywall as I did previously in a different room.
Heat and moisture seem to be the best methods, so for a large project I purchased a steamer. It works faster and better than the sprays I tried. If it's painted over or has a coating on it, you'll need to score the paper so moisture can get behind it.
use a wallpaper tiger...it's a little rolling thing with blades that cuts little holes in the paper. Then, spray a little bit of water on the paper and let it soak through the holes you made, then peel and scrape the paper away. After you remove it all, be sure to wipe down the wall with clean water to remove any paste residue, etc.
Buy a paint tray, fill with warm water, and take the roller with a handle and roll it in the water, then pull it back to drain some. Roll it up and down on the wall, then scrape with large putty knife. Once your all done, scrub the paste off the walls. Lightly scrub with a sponge. Good Luck!

I use a cheap steam iron because the iron is ruined by the time you are done. Just spray water on the wall section by section, wait about 5-10 min, then iron the paper on the wall with the steam on, and you can pull it off in a snap. Use the paper tiger thing if it has been painted over, then follow with spray and iron, you probably need to wait longer for the water to permeate the paper. It is so much easier than anything else I have ever done.
to remove contact paper with trouble, just use a hair dryer in one hand and follow with your other hand pulling it off very easily. No need to get out the razor blades, etc.
