Let them die back if you can, let the nutrition go back into the plant before you cut it off.
If they are starting to turn yellow and brown, cut them down.
I do not cut them off until spring as they help the bulb to grow long after the flowers are done blooming. When I clean in the spring I cut them off.
Do not touch the foliage until completely brown leaves .lillies are bulb and they feed off the green now for next years growth
when they are dead and have gone brown.
