This is something that you should be calling a pro about. You shouldn't be messing around with the gas line or the vent. It needs to be done right or you might have a fire.
There HAS to be a better way of venting dryers than in the back at the bottom. You have to pull the dryer out from the wall. Even though my utility room is wide, it's narrow. In fact if I pulled my dryer out as far as it would go, I would be standing in the garage and there still would not be clearance to get behind the dryer. I have to wait until somebody thin and agile visits who can go behind the dryer, reattach the hose and hold it there while the dryer is pushed in a foot, then climb out while the dryer is pushed back, and while we hope the hose won't get out of place again. I have an electric dryer. It must be much more difficult for you with a gas dryer.
My son says, first, turn off the gas valve and unplug the electricity, but you dont remove the gas line itself from the dryer. Buy a new hose that is longer than your old one. Gently pull out the dryer until you can get to the vent hose. Replace the howe, tucked tightly in the dryer and the vent outlet. Push your dryer back in and hook the gas and electricity back. I sure hope this helps. 😇
Very carefully, they should have left enough line to move it some
