Can I paint my popcorn ceiling?

It depends on the rest of your decor, but I would do them in a nice rich, brown color....or a deep burgundy to add a bit of color.
Almost any rich color goes with gold. Since @MichellePappagallo suggested brown or burgundy, I'm going less traditional and suggest blue or green. A mixture of the two that I love is Valspar's Mystic Sea. I'm painting both sides of our front door a dark hue of this color soon. I have that as the color of an accent wall and it makes me happy every time I enter. Choose a color that makes you really happy. Best wishes 😇
