Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Feb 26, 2014Here is a link that may help you with your sandstone issue. Cleaning methods vary depending upon what it is your trying to clean off of the surface. As sandstone, any kind is porous sometimes it is difficult if not impossible to clean without removing part of the surface of the stone itself. In the matter of sealing, This is a debated issue. With any sealing of a stone there are issues that could arise as a result. The stone could become slippery, it could cause moisture to become trapped in the stone resulting in spalling of the surface, It could discolor the surface just to name a few of the problems associated with the sealer. This is not to say not to seal it, but if you decide to move in that direction, test a very small area first that is hidden if at all possible. And check with local install companies about what type of sealer to use. There are different grades of stone and uses so one sealer may be different from another based upon the stone itself. http://www.pavingexpert.com/maintain_02.htm#amlHelpful Reply
