Looking to be inspired for what to do with my Spare mantel, any ideas?

I've been given a 7'.X5" mantel. I won't use it above fireplace but know there's an ingenious us. Haven't been inspired yet. Welcome ideas!

How about mounting it on a different wall, opposite the fireplace, and use it for pictures and knick knacks?

It sounds like you have the mantelpiece and the surround. Is that right? If you use it on a wall I would choose one in a different room than the living room. I would fill the fireplace part (if it has one) with something that looks like there is a real fireplace beneath the facade. Does it have any detail? I would not ditz it up. Make it have an impact if you use it.
