The lock-together luxury vinyl planks are great. Look good, waterproof and very easy to install. I put it in our powder room. Don't get the stick-down kind though- I've heard that they can come up.
We chose laminate flooring for all the common areas in our house, but in stages. My legs can't take hardwood, ceramic or stone flooring. The kitchen laminate had a stone look. The family room has wood look. The bathrooms have a ceramic tile look. We love them all, after several years. I have three suggestions: 1. Use the same flooring in each room, except maybe the bathrooms--your choice. 2. Start the flooring from the front door, Ours is parallel to the door, which is my preference, but you may want to go perpendicular to the door. 3. Buy several extra boxes and keep them under the guest room bed or another flat place inside the house. If you have to make repairs or add a closet or something, I can almost guarantee that in five years you won't be able to find that exact pattern again. We weren't when we tore out a wall and fireplace to make a Great Room. You can tell the difference. Best wishes 😇
