Next time you purchase plants check for deer resistant plants there should be a little picture of a deer with a line through it. Peonies for example are deer resistant. As for the small flowering plants I call it nature's deadheading. The deer ate the flowers off my friend's planter she was going to throw it away I said that is nature's way of deadheading, she left the planter and the flowers are blooming again
Fencing is probably the only solution that is more than temporary. Deer are good jumpers so it would need to be at least 6' tall. My sister built a fence out of posts and chicken wire that works well for her.
I find success with this homemade mix but you have to reapply if it rains. 1 cup water, 1 cup milk, 1 egg, few drops dish detergent. Blend thoroughly, you might need to strain. Spray on plants. best to make fresh each time you use and it does start to stink and may clog sprayer.
