How do I clean the dryer vent lint that goes outside? I have used a nylon stocking before. Any other suggestions. Thank you.
If you try to do that it will collect inside and be a fire hazard. I have never had lint collect on the lawn from the vent. Perhaps there is a problem with your dryer that the lint isn't being collected where it is supposed to be collected on the screen you clean off after each use.
Even if you are using, and cleaning after each use, a screen inside your dryer, some always seems to escape into the tube from the dryer to the vent. People clean out these tubes professionally as a build up can cause a fire.
If you are concerned about the lint on your lawn, make a mesh bag with a drawstring that can be tied over the vent. Or you can just rake it up after you use the dryer.
I would be concerned if you are getting that much lint on the lawn that it should be cleaned before you get a fire.
Put a nlýon kneehigh over then end of pipe. Or clean the whòle dryer vents.
back when knee high nylon stockings were popular, my Mom would take one of these stockings & slip it over the vent hole. When it got full, she'd throw it out & put another on.
I use knee high stockings and get a box of 12 at Walmart cheap.
Yes, knee high stockings are the way to go. You could save the lint to start campfires or a fire pit.
We have a lint screen for the dryer itself and another screen that fits over the end of the tubing that leads outside.
