No, I use Roebic Drain Cleaner from the hardware or home store. Mix with warm water to activate the enzymes, and pour down your drain an let sit overnight, then run hot water in morning.
If there is a stoppage, you need something stronger than a dishwash. Go to your Dollar Store, and check for a Plumber's helper., or in this area of cleansers. This is very good, and some are for metal pipes, some are for plastic piping. Best wishes, J.
Where is the stoppage? If it's a toilet, I have used Dawn with success. Pour about a cup into the toilet, wait a few hours and pour warm water down. You might have to repeat.
I've never heard of using dishwashing liquid to clear drains. One method I use is to pour baking soda down into the drain. , then pour plain white vinegar into the drain as well. It will bubble and gurgle and will usually help clear most clogs....plus it will help keep your drain smelling fresh as well.
I use baking soda and white vinegar in all my drains and never have any blockage.
I used 1/2 to 3/4 cup of Clorox bi-weekly for several years in sink and bathroom drains followed by boiling water after about 20 minutes. Be careful to avoid spilling the bleach on other surfaces or materials the bleach can affect.
