put some grass seed down and water it fiercely. keep the dog off it
I read several articles about what kind of grass you can grow in a shaded area, and other tips. The article I like the most is from post-tribune.com, Jan. 8, 2010, by Sandy Feather. All the articles recommended fescue, especially turf fescue. There has to be some sun, so if your trees need topping or thinning, do that if you intend on a having a lawn. Get a soil test, but for fescue, you probably need about 1 1/2 pound of nitrogen in addition to your other fertilizer, twice a year. Let the grass grow tall before mowing, both to allow the roots get well established, but to shade out weed seeds from germination.
My own recommendation is to put down some artificial turf the people and dogs would walk on getting back to the house. Dogs are going to dig, and roll in the dirt and grass, so this will give a little buffer to save your floors. Best wishes 😇
thete seed for shade it works
There are seeds made specifically for shade, and wooded lights provide plenty of that. Ask your nurseryman for his recommendation in your area.
