Many places sell recliner couch slip covers including Target and Walmart. If you don't like the idea of slipcovers and don't need the whole piece of furniture hidden you could try Crocheted Afghans, old fashioned quilts, or even crocheted head and arm rest covers.
I also remember my Uncle used to have a sheepskin thing that was rectangular and cover the seat and back of his recliner. That was a long time ago though!
Hope that helps
: )
Those sheepskins are now polyester and very trendy. Therefore they are available in almost every furniture and furnishings dept. and store. If you are really tired of the look of your set, you can paint it. Click on a couple of buttons on the categories like Painted Furniture, or type in the box Painted Upholstery for directions. Be sure to post what you end up doing with another photo on Hometalk.com. Best wishes 😇
I just recently covered a reclining sofa & chair with painters canvas drop cloths! I used a staple gun to adhere it to sofa & chair. . . It came out great!!!
I have the same issue. Through of recliner covers, but what would I do with extra arm material. Still thinking. Hope you find a solution. Carolyn
If this is in a family room or a rec room have you come across old quilts that would fit the width of the sofa back and the seat itself? It could be draped over this area leaving the arms open. Depending on your preference , the fabric could be tucked in behind the foot rest section when in the retracted position, or left to drape over on the back of the sofa.
I have the same problem & after a lot of research have decided to paint them. If they don't turn out then I will make fitted slipcovers as a fall back and last resort. Afghans and quilts are too hard to keep in place and (in my opinion) usually look sloppy.
here are 2 pictures. . .
I had mine covered with white bed sheets, worked for reclining, no issue. When I got tired of white I tye-dyed them. I personally didn't want to attach the cover to the couch, we live on a farm and it's great to be able to remove it for a wash as often as necessary.
Haven't done it yet - might have to wait until spring. I got the idea here on home talk and did some internet searching. Just look for painting upholstery.
Bed bath and beyond slip covers on line. Make sure to use the 20% off coupon and free shipping. I did for my recliner.
I agree, or those of us who are sewing challenged 🤣
i have a single seat but they also have covers for larger. Good luck.
