My kitchen cabinets are embarrassingly greasy. Please share your degreasing tips with me so I don't have to cringe every time I glance at my cabinets.
Try rubbing ice on the putty to harden it enough to be able to scrap it off
try freezing them and scraping it off.
Try freezing the pants and then scraping.
Try laminate flooring. You can get it for about .68 per square foot at Home Deopt and it looks great.
Try lighter fluid. It will remove chewing gum w/o leaving a stain. Then wash as usual.
Some formulas of silly putty are flammable. If you dried these sweat pants, then the putty has probably gotten in between the threads. Scraping or using ice may work on woven pants but not on knit sweatpants. Just replace the pants.
With oil based stains, you use a degreaser. With organic stains, you attack with enzymes. Lighter fluid is oil based on a synthetic. Doubt it will work sufficiently. Also, cotton absorbs.
Also, in washing or drying hot, you change a solid to a liquid which penetrates between the fibers. Use your chemistry class knowledge.
I would try goo-gone or nail polish remover. Be careful with all the solvents though, and wash the pant a couple times extra before trying them in the dryer. You do NOT want flammable stuff in dryer!
thank you so much! this makes sense. margarita
