They hate mothballs, sprinkle them around to keep them out :)
I did the following, using a 20Lb. LP bottle and a rubber hose: I inserted the hose in to one of the mole holes, when to LP bottle was empty I threw a watch in the mole hole. I have not seen a mole in my yard for the past 3 years. It works very good, do not allow children to do this.
