Wisconsin. Two years I received a wonderful gardenia plant- Help!
and it would produce one or two blossoms each summer when I placed it outdoors. Since the plant (tree) grew quite large I decided to permanently plant it in the garden. It is beautiful and had six blossoms!!! My question is can I leave it outside in the ground over winter? It has gotten so big I just don't have a place for it in the house. What can/should I do????

Gardenias are winter hardy in zones 8-10. They will probably get heavy damage to the roots, much less the plant above the ground. The chances of survival is not good. I did a search on gardeningknowhow.com and could find nothing on it surviving so far north if it is left in the ground.
