I was gifted Country Chic paint in two colors, texture powder, grey wax , a great brush AND a gorgeous Victoria Larsen stencil all from Hometalk. Thanks so much Hometalk!!
I didn't have anything old to repurpose but I did have a vision for two tables that I use as accent tables. And I love the colors they gave me, both fit perfectly with my decor. Vanilla frosting and Elegance.
Gifts!!Stencil not shown.
So I have a huge wall print of the ocean seen through a window with sheers. The table , really a sofa table stands below it holding all my tchotchkes of ocean splendor! There was nothing wrong with the table but it wasn't expensive, and I've had it many years and I thought it was time for a makeover.
Before
First I sanded it lightly and wiped it down. And then with this gorgeous shade of blue grey called Elegance began to paint. I knew I didn't want the whole table painted. Just the wooden top. This is how it looked after 1 coat.
First coat
At this point I wasn't sure if I wanted to put on another coat and distress it or what but thats when I noticed that the drawers had these little flourishes painted on them...............
That look almost identical to the gifted stencil! And then I had a lightbulb moment!
Flourish like the stencil

I mixed up the gifted texture powder with a little Elegance to a peanut butter consistency, laid my stencil on the table top that had been dry for over 3 hours securing it with painters tape. Took the straight edge of the paint stick to apply the texture to the stencil, using the edge to remove some of the extra but not taking all of it off. Remove the stencil and look how gorgeous!
Pretty flourish
I then stenciled the other short end and after a few hours to let them harden I painted it with the cream colored paint. And hated it! It looked better blue.
But since I had that color out I went ahead and sanded the second table, wiped it down and put on a first coat. After that dried I painted a second coat, letting that dry overnight.
Back to the first table again (this is like a bad comedy) I painted it again with the blue grey and let that dry overnight.
First gold wax then grey
I went to my neighborhood Country Chic paint dealer and purchased gold wax. I thought the sheen would really be nice but it turned out too yellow. After buffing it and letting it dry, I waxed it with the gifted grey wax and now it looks good. I also used the grey wax over the whole table.
Distressed and applied gold wax
So with the first table I ended up distressing it in a way that looks like clouds and waves. Then I applied the gold wax over the top almost making it look like the sun is shining on it.
Completed
So here it is and all decked out a day after waxing.
Completed
All filled up with tshotskes!! I'm really happy with the way these both turned out. I would have never even thought to do these makeovers if I hadn't received these products!!!
