Should I paint these the same finish?

Vicki K on Feb 26, 2014spray paint the flower (brightish) rose pink, leave the mirrors, and get wider lamp shades in rose pink, then a Red heart on a pink pillowcase (king size) to lay in front of your pillows. Or blue, or turquoise, or yellow, whatever brighter color you like (or a combo). You need a pop of color in there. Area rug too? Vase and flowers on night table? Love the headboard!Helpful Reply

Maria Ward on Feb 26, 2014I don't think they need to be the same finish. If you paint the flower a darker color it will stand out more, but i think it looks great as is. Nice job:)Helpful Reply

Loretta on Feb 26, 2014I like them they way they are, but you need an accent color. Definetly need wider lamp shades so those could be the accent color needed along with some pillows to match. Also some greenery...I think every room needs greenery in it. Be sure to post a picture with what you decide is right for you.Helpful Reply

Melissa @ Polished Habitat on Feb 26, 2014Mixing metals is 100% okay! If you aren't loving it as is, spray paint it bronze and see what you think. The metallic spray paints are so fun! If you hate it darker, you can always spray paint it silver again :)Helpful Reply

Eileen Serletic on Feb 28, 2014It is ok to mix metals and I like the display as is. However, if you want to try to tie the pieces together more, try some Rub'n Buff in the color of your choice on part of just the flower, or parts of each piece.Helpful Reply

Katie on Mar 01, 2014I think they are very nice the way they are, Melissa. You've done a lovely job; and I love the idea of blue as the colour pop! The only thing you might want to try is maybe moving the mirrors down a bit so everything isn't in such a straight line (I'm a very non-symetrical type). It's very nice.Helpful Reply

Loretta on Mar 01, 2014I love your blog "Home for now". By the way, I do like the small mirrors over the bed better than the pictures before adding them. Keep up the good work!Helpful Reply

Opal on Mar 05, 2014I also like that they are different. If you wanted the center "flower" to stand out you could cut out the shape in a bright color to go behind it or like others have said, paint it a bright color.Helpful Reply

Peggy Stansbury on Mar 05, 2014I think you need a pop of color on the shades and maybe throw pillows on the bed and maybe the flower darker so it will stand out.Helpful Reply

Linda T on Mar 05, 2014You have a black headboard and lamp stands and dull (grey?) covers. The whole look depresses me. I would paint the mirrors and flower black, but then get buttercup yellow pillow cases, and lamp shades. Make a splash! Spring is coming! Put a vase of forsythia and daffodils where you can it from the bed!Helpful Reply

Linda T on Mar 05, 2014Aaaaggghhhhhhh! By your photo, you look so 'sunny'. I can't imagine you in all this dark decor. I have a 37 year old daughter who was often depressed. She had been a very dedicated 'Goth' and loved all things black, spidery, and ghostly. For Christmas and birthdays we always bought her black dishes, glasses, rugs, tea towels you name it. Out of the blue, last year, she discovered that this might be why she always felt sad, and asked us for all things white, thinking that any dishes the same colour, would go together, even unmatched things from Goodwill (Our favourite designer!) She has bought ombre curtians, grey up to white, and a great bright orange TV stand. White on her futon, with bright orange, to red, to yellow pillows. She actually sounds happier and I believe she is. You don't have to listen to me (obviously) but I don't think the blue mirror does anything to lift you out of your monochrome. Why not paint that bright copper spray, with the flower to match? Already a warmer touch. I still like my yellow idea, or even a bright lime green, though most greens are not that warm. If you like fussy (which I doubt, seeing what you have now), I would buy (or make) just ONE giant sunflower pillow for the centre of a pile of other cushions. It might be a bit old fashioned or what I would call 'camp', but I think seeing it would make me smile each bedtime.Helpful Reply
