Summer Gardens In Wisconsin

We are wistfully longing for summer once again as we hunker down through another possible blizzard. Our front porch has been taken hostage by frozen tundra. We had an area in the front yard that had become an unforeseen mud pit after construction of our home was complete. After brainstorming what to do with it we came up with a solution - turn it into a lovely cobblestone porch. It was a great choice. We enjoy three seasons of family fun and visits with neighbors on our front porch. I shared photos of my front porch with my winter floral arrangements last December. Here are photos of the front porch with the summer gardens. I use the garden arch as the focal point for floral designs for every season. I love my garden arch because it's so versatile and adds nice design elements. Oh to have my beautiful Morning Glories on the front porch right now!

Ene19230 on May 31, 2014Bev, I'm sorry I didn't see your post until now. The name of the flower is Blazing Star ‘Kobold Original’. You can find it on the web here at this web site: http://effingergarden.com/natives/perennials/. I hope you find this helpful. Now that I have posted this another look tells me that I was incorrect. Now I have to say it's Liatris asperabutton or blazing star which is native to Minnesota. We purcahed them at a local nursery that grows plants native only to Minnesota.
