Storage ottomans are great! Provide storage as well as extra seating or with a tray can be used as a coffee or side table. How about a trunk as a coffee or side table? How about collapsible storage cubes? Here is one in faux fur - but they also come in microuede and faux leather. Shop on line, Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc., easy Google search.

Some good folks use a trunk or home made box for a coffee table and use it for storage. Bookshelves with a built in fold out desk also make room for storage. Some friends of ours made a whole wall unit of book shelves, with a built in desk and cabinets below for their storage. Any stands you use for the tv or lamps etc could also be the style with storage below them. In other words use a dresser for the t.v. stand or small dressers for the end tables that include drawer or cabinet space. Hope this helps.
baskets, i have one for blankets another for papers.
Most of us have storage space that's taken over by things we no longer use. Clean out closets, get rid of stuff you don't need. You'll have more space at no charge.
Repeat storage ottomans, cubes w/baskets, coffee table w/drawer or shelf, small repurposed cabinet, straw/rattan bin for reading material and instant mail. In an apt, and this combo has worked well for me. Control yourself. Had to get rid of coffee table because it became the junk area.
i love trunks. They can work as coffee tables but have storage. There is also a crate tutorial using four crates and wheels to make a storage crate coffee table.
