Terry's Flooring on Feb 27, 2014You need to go under your house and shore up the tub ..It might need to be jacked up some before you add the extra support ..It will only get worse with time if not shored up ..Once that is fixed , regrout tile ..Helpful Reply

Hewitt Remodeling Services LLC on Mar 01, 2014Jeanette L, At first I jumped to the conclusion the bottom of the tub was cracking as so many of them do because they weren't installed correctly. After rereading your post I realize I missed the boat. I'm not sure we have a clear picture of your tub set-up and therefore it is difficult to offer accurate advice, but I am going to take a stab at it. I am assuming you have a framed platform about 22' tall with a drop in tub installed in it. it. The front and top of the platform is tiled as well as some of the surrounding wall. The tub is supposed to be installed such that the weight of the filled tub is carried by the floor. If not installed correctly, the tub can be actually "hanging" from the platform that is not built to carry all that weight. The result is the wooden frame platform "gives a little" whereas the tile and the grout cannot, causing the cracks. Sometimes a pro can get access with a minimal amount of work to the bottom of the tub and "fill that gap" between the tub and the subfloor that should have been done on initial install. The bathroom being on the second floor may be a good thing as we can sometimes come up thru the ceiling and make the correction and then repair the ceiling. In any case, I recommend you find a professional to assist you with this one. TimHelpful Reply
