I love refinishing furniture and creating new projects out of old, worn out and discarded items.
Found these discarded fence panels/gates at a local nature park that were just rotting away. After getting permission to take a few and choosing the best ones, the real work began!
First, I used a brush to remove all cobwebs, dirt and debris. The wire (which is not visible against the brick) needed a bit of straightening with pliers, then sanding.
Since I didn't need much paint, I purchased 2 samples jars of tinted paint from Lowe's ( I used Valspar in a gray w/teal tint). There were already some hinges attached to a couple panels, but I removed them, soaked them in white vinegar overnight, then in a mixture of peroxide and salt to make them rusty.
Since these will eventually hide a storage area in my small apartment, I had to find something inexpensive to put on the backside. I can sew and looked at many possibilities of fabrics, using anything from yard goods to sheets. The next thing to figure out was how to attach them.
Wanting to be able to wash them periodically, I opted for spring tension rods and found some heavier sheer panels in the right shade of brown at Walmart!
I took this pic on a very sunny day, but you can see the finished product. It will be eventually moved to the bedroom of my new apartment, cutting down on the amount of light showing through. But all in all, I love it!!!!
We want to help you DIY, so some of the materials in this post are linked to sellers. Just so you know, Hometalk may collect a small share of sales from the links on this page.

You could also find some wide ribbon that was discontinued at a fabric store, and weave the ribbon around the wire...

Another name for Room dividers is room separators and partitions. This divider is used at the home, office, and different areas for room partition. If you are looking for good room driver you can get it from “Steel-Aid” as they provide the best room dividers in the USA.

Did you use tension rods on bottom of each panel, or only the top?
